Hero is about 12 to 13 pounds of love. He is submissive and a flirt with that cute stubby face. HERO is a great pet for kids and he should be good with cats as laid back as he is. He was protective over his food when he first came here but heck he was skin on bone thin and it is common for food protection when a dog is in that condition. His former owner was negligent about his three dogs care. MR. NICE GUY and his three other kennel partners (we have Mr. Nice Guy and Yellow Diamond) all had heartworm. The three we have are mild heartworm positive. They will be treated in May or early June for the heartworms. You can adopt and do your own HW treatment or adopt now and bring them back here for their two treatments, which will be 30 days apart. HERO is currently kenneled with 5 other small to medium sized dogs, four are males: a testimony to his good temperament. They are low positive and should do GREAT with their treatments. An area family lost their children to the state for dirty conditions for the children and pets. They were ordered to remove the pets to get the children back. IT took months but finally the last three males were released. Four of the 8 dogs we took from that home were heartworm positive. A fifth had puppies and she lost an eye that was sliced open before we got her. Sometimes people say they love dogs and their children but are blind to the facts of their own living conditions: that they are unable to care for their pets, yet continue to collect them and letting them have babies which they cant care for.
